The show, like the classic series, centers on the adventures of the crew of the starship Enterprise (a much more advanced model than Captain Kirk's ship). The voyages of the starship Enterprise keep basically the same character, despite some significant changes that have occurred in the meantime, such as peace with the Klingon aliens and the enlargement of the United Federation of Planets. The universe expands, becoming more crowded with extraterrestrial species and difficult to manage. Technology has obviously progressed in the meantime; Starfleet ships, such as the new Enterprise, are larger, more comfortable, and more spacious, serving more of an exploratory and diplomatic function than a military one. Officers are allowed to bring their own families on board, as mission periods have lengthened. [2] The exploration of other worlds remains the main spring of the adventures, but there is no lack of new situations that develop in the new environment of the holodeck.
