Psych

2006

The protagonist of the series is Shawn Spencer, the young son of an ex-cop, who works as a "psychic consultant" with the Santa Barbara Police Department. Actually Shawn is not a psychic at all, but he has such high intuitive powers (largely due to his father's "training" in childhood) that he convinces detectives Lassiter and O'Hara of it. The collaboration with the two begins when Shawn intrudes on an investigation: the detectives are intrigued by his insights into the case, to the point of suspecting that he may be involved in it. To get out of trouble, Shawn makes up the story of his psychic powers. Later, given the success obtained, he invented a job as a "psychic detective" by opening an agency for this purpose with his childhood friend Gus (the name of the agency is Psych, an abbreviation of psychic, in English psychic).
