The third episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law entitled "The people against Emil Blonsky" offers one more opportunity to understand what the villain of this legal / comedy series.

In the final part of the episode in question, Jennifer Walters while she is returning to her apartment is attacked by four boys, who want to "steal" her blood. These guys are part of a gang called in the comics Wrecking Crew. What suggests that they will also be called that on the show is that, as can be seen from the cover image of this article taken from the episode itself, they have some T-shirts with a W symbol inside a circle. Besides that, one of them is called Thunderball or as one of the comics Wrecking Crew members.

Their first appearance in American comics took place in the now distant 1974 in issue 17 of The Defenders Vol. 1. Basically they are born as enemies of Thor but have entered the paper universe also as allies of superheroes for extraordinary occasions. One of these, for example, is in the comic book run of Secret Invasion (it is no coincidence that Marvel Studios is producing a TV series of the same name and one theory links the She-Hulk series with the Secret Invasion series).

So the Destroyer Squad (this is the Italian name of the Wrecking Crew) is formed by mercenaries, which can be hired by the highest bidder.

The fact that in the comics the Wrecking Crew is linked to the stories of Thor is subtly mentioned in the TV series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law by the same protagonist Jennifer Walters. She this she in fact observing the weapons that the members of the Wrecking Crew wield states that come from New Asgard.

Who are the members of the Wrecking Crew aka Destroyer Squad?

  • Dirk Garthwaite known as Wrecker (Demoman in Italian). He is the leader of the team, which takes his nickname
  • Henry Camp aka Bulldozer
  • Philip Calusky known as Piledriver
  • Eliot Franklin aka Thunderball

In the comics they have characteristics that they seem not to have in the TV series. In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law they were introduced as young boys. In fact, they seem naïve and helpless in the face of She-Hulk's strength.

What do the Wrecking Crews do in She-Hulk?

At the moment, that is, after having seen only the first 3 episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law it can only be said that someone has them paid to steal She-Hulk's blood.

At minute 2:04 of a video that appeared on the official Marvel website (visible here) you can see a sequence extracted from behind the scenes of the series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in which there are three members of the Wrecking Crew and the supervillain Titania. From what one can guess, these are inside a conference room where Emil Blonsky was holding or should have held a conference for what appears to be his foundation or "Abomaste" (born from the union of Abomination and Namaste).

Who is the leader of the Wrecking Crew?

What I think is that Titania and the Wrecking Crews work for the same criminal boss and that this is it a customer of GLK & H, which is the law firm for which Jennifer Walters works. This belief stems from the fact that in the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Jennifer prepared a lawsuit against a client of GLK & H, but this is never revealed. In her speech Jennifer says:

What is the responsibility of those in power? [...] The defendants used their enormous political and monetary resources for profit and to the detriment of public safety, causing the deaths of innocent people. They did so in the belief that they could come out clean, that their power would reject any serious consequences.

It is clear that this speech introduced at the beginning of the show must have consequences. What is this company that has so much power and so much money? This question will almost certainly be answered by the series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in the next episodes (which I remind you to be 9 in total). At the moment it can be assumed that he is some powerful California criminal like Wilson Fisk is for New York ... or is he Kingpin himself?
