Blade is a new film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe among the Marvel releases of 2024. The new Blade is the fourth film adaptation of the Marvel comic book character. The films follow the exploits of Blade - also known as the vampire hunter - based on the character of the same name who first appeared in the comic The Tomb of Dracula (vol. 1) n. 10 released in the United States in 1973.
Here's everything that is known about the new MCU film Blade: character, plot, the change of director and screenwriter, the cast and the release date.

Who is Blade?
It is not yet known what the Blade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be like, given that 2024 will be the first film dedicated to the new character.
From what can be learned from the comics, Blade is known to be half human and half vampire, and that he hunts "bloodsuckers".
Blade lacks vampire weaknesses such as sensitivity to light, and trains to quench his thirst for blood (so he doesn't need to drink it to stay alive).
The plot of the MCU movie Blade
Nothing is certain about the plot yet, but in my opinion the Blade MCU film could connect to the Dane Whitman / Black Knight character seen in the MCU film Eternals released in 2021. In the Eternals post credit scene Blade is in the room but we don't see him and he talks to the Black Knight character played by Kit Harrington.
In this regard, the producer of Marvel Studios Nate Moore - said in an interview for Comicbook - that yes Blade could revolve around the stories introduced with the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals.
Blade's voice, in the Eternals post-credit, appears along with the Ebony Sword found by Dane Whitman/Black Knight.
The Ebony Sword - in the Marvel comics - is a blade that possesses many powers such as scratching any type of material, absorbing and deflecting forms of energy, canceling spells and healing wounds who possess it.
Although little is known about the plot of the film Blade, the connection with the Black Knight and the Ebony Sword is very important and could be explained in the film dedicated to the Daytime.
The MCU Blade film will be - as reported by The Hollywood Reporter - darker than the cinecomic average and close in atmosphere to the previous Blades (played by Wesley Snipes).
The change of director and writer of the film MCU Blade
The MCU film Blade has seen major delays in recent months, due to script problems and of the abandonment of the director originally assigned to the Bassam Tariq project.
The film is back on track, after a major rewrite of the script and the hiring of new director Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country) to direct the film.
The original director of the MCU film Blade Bassam Tariq - who left the production in October 2022 - said he was excited about the choice of the new director with a post on Instagram.
There have also been changes on the front of the writing of the MCU film Blade, initially the script of the film was entrusted to Stacy Osei-Kuffour (HBO TV series Watchmen), later replaced by Beau DeMayo (Netflix TV series The Witcher).
Now the screenplay is by Michael Starburry (Netflix TV series When They See Us) who expressed his first impressions of the project through a post on Twitter:
I'm lucky to be working with an amazing, incredibly smart team. I know there are a lot of Blade fans out there and we are going to do our best to give you a movie that you will love.

Marvel Studios intends to make a Blade that lives up to the history of the franchise, in my opinion the studio is getting bolder - especially in tone - after the critical success of the film Werewolf By Night available on Disney +.
The MCU film Blade could continue on the path - linked to the horror films - just hinted at by Michael Giacchino's Werewolf By Night.
The cast of the MCU movie Blade
The only cast member confirmed to star in the MCU film Blade is its lead played by Mahershala Ali.
Mahershala Ali is a highly rated actor, who won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor respectively in 2017 for the film Moonlight and in 2019 for the film Green Book.
Mahershala Ali has always expressed negative opinions on the previous screenplay of the film Blade, we'll see if the new writer and the new director can satisfy it.
Actors Delroy Lindo - seen alongside Chadwick Boseman in Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods - and Aaron Pierre - interpreter of director M. Night Shyamalan's film Old - have joined the Marvel Studios reboot of Blade in roles not yet specified.
The filming date of the MCU movie Blade
After various delays related to production problems, filming on the Marvel Cinematic Universe film dedicated to Blade will start at start 2023.
The release date of the MCU movie Blade
The MCU film Blade will be released in US cinemas on 6 September 2024.
